Hey fairies, how goes it? ......
I have some exciiiiiting news this week- a sample of my blog is being published in Mslexia, a magazine for women's writing. I submitted them the sample in an email a while ago, and heard back this week that they'd be publishing it- I'm happy as a glam clam! I'm hoping this means a few more people will flutter into the Reweary Fairy blogosphere...
But that's enough wistful hoping for more readers, let's look at some LUVVLY SECOND-HAND CLOTHES!
I nabbed a gawjus classy shirt in an Age UK chazza shoppe the other day for £3.99. It's sheer with black satin stripes which sort of serve as modesty panels in a way so it's subtly sexy... who knew M&S could deliver something subtly sexy?!?!
 |
there she is! |
The shirt made its debut at a pub quiz on Monday night in which our team, after thinking we'd triumphed, came SECOND LAST (tiny violins plz). During said quiz I learned that my boyfriend knows all the Monopoly tiles off by heart. What a skill! I'm wondering if this memory has anything to do with the McJoy that is the annual McDonald's monopoly.
 |
wow you can see the shirt so clearly in all it's glory! #fashionphotography |
The shirt was kind of giving me Donatella Versace vibes, which just goes to show you how little I wear black, as the moment I wear it I think 'oh yes look, it's Donatella'. I ran with the theme and rimmed my eyes with black liquid eyeliner that lead out into a flick, although mine wasn't as thick as hers. I didn't worry too much about symmetry or neatness as Donatella's a busy woman and probably doesn't sweat the small stuff.
 |
The makeup up close with a Donatella quote. I think I'd wear platform trainers for a meeting with God. Imagine... all the angels in Fila Disruptors lol. |
I also didn't fill in my fair eyebrows as hers are very light, and it means the eyes can steal all the attention. Sidenote, I've wanted to bleach by browzies for aaaages and I know loads of people who have done it and looked amaze, but I'm too frightened that I'll A) blind myself with bleach or B) ruin my scarce brows which are still scanty even though I haven't shaped them in YONKS (literally years and years and years).
 |
I didn't wear the sequinned skinny scarf out in the end, but it's second hand from eBay. |
 |
Action shot of me telling my boyfriend to stop pacing while he was on the phone. Our flat is too smol for pacing! |
I wore the shirt with my charity shop blue GAP jeans and- shock! - my New Rock trainers. I did try the outfit with the charity shop knee high leather boots I have, but the jeans aren't skinny enough which meant they made my jeans look like jodhpurs, so I thought: nay/neigh. To top it all off I threw on my leopard print coat.
 |
not the vibe. |
My boyfriend got me an old England shirt for Christmas (I think it's from 2006) and although I'm not one for footie, it's a luvvly top in a radiant red, and I am one for the intersection of footie and fashion. The England squad are a good bunch of lads though- we❤️Marcus Rashford.
 |
I love the little flag detail on the shoulders! |
I went for all-out red accessories with little red glittery hair clips which I got in a multipack from eBay a few years ago; red ribbons cut from a reel of craft ribbon from The Range around my bunchies; big red chandelier earrings I got from H&M ages ago; and a little smidgen of red eyeshadow.
 |
accessories deetz up close and personal... doesn't it just make you dribble? |
I wore the shirt with my blue denim Dorothy Perkins skirt (eBay) and my New Rocks. Good job these New Rocks are so durable because
I rinse them. |
ball skillzzzz... let's be 'aving ya! |
I tell you what I DO love, is
Bend It Like Beckham. I even saw the musical version with my Nan! I don't think it ran for very long but it was fabulous, and the
glittering traditional Indian attire in the wedding scenes looked magnificent twinkling under the bright stage lights.
I'm gonna quickly run through some
footie-inflected looks that I love:
 |
Bimini Bon Boulash is also one for the intersection of footie and fashion; here she is getting her COVID vaccine like a queen. |
 |
Bimini in her Norwich get-up that she quite rightly says the judges 'slept on' during Drag Race.
|
 |
And of course, "WAG" excellence. When Victoria Beckham became a fashion designer she had to fight hard to be taken seriously by snobby fashionistas. Also the British tabloids deserved the red card for their treatment of "WAGS"!
|
 |
FCUK's cheeky Y2K footie t-shirts. |
 |
'Show Me Your Tackle'! A brand is bound to be a provocateur when it's called 'FCUK'. |
That's enough footie fashion for now. I hope you
all got some kicks (hehe) out of this lickle/ludicrous display.
I didn't really pull any blog-worthy looks on any other days this week.
On Thursday me and the fella went pottery painting (maybe I'll show you our finished products post-kiln next week when I've picked them up) so I wore clothes I didn't mind getting messy, and the rest of the week was rather mellow, that is to say, uneventful. It is January after all, and t'was the week of Blue Monday (boohoo). The uneventfulness of it all means I've been ploughing through 'Sex and the City' at an alarming rate, but it's fine because duhhhh it's blog research!
So instead of showing you another outfit I'll show ya an eBay purchase of mine- behold, the Karen Millen denim tie appliqué skirt:
 |
low quality photo from me as always <3 you're welcome
|
I've seen a few of these skirts about on eBay and Depop, and each one I've seen is unique. I've had my watchful eye on a few of them for ages, and had some on my eBay watch list which is now FULL; friends and loved ones, an intervention may be necessary... perhaps sign me up for eBayers Anonymous?
But yeah I love these skirts, they make me think of the Mad Hatter or a moment of rainy day Pinterest craft madness. The seller was selling it for £20 which personally I think is a bit steep, but when I made a slightly lower offer it was rejected: HAGGLE DENIED!
That's the thing about charity shopping... sometimes it makes anything over a tenner feel extravagant! Anyhoos, I bought it for £20 in celebration of the blog being published.
It hasn't arrived yet but I'm deffo gonna style it out with a shirt and tie like a 21st century Annie Hall (Really? Do Ya Think So? Well, La-De-Dah!)
 |
Although Annie Hall had a stylist, Diane Keaton had a huge say in what she wore for the film, and Annie's adrodygnous style has that Keaton suited-and-booted flavour. |
 |
An old pic of a balls to the wall Annie Hall ensemble. The shirt, waistcoat, and trousers are all "menswear" from a second hand website called Messina Hembry, and the tie is one I got in a job lot of ties on eBay which I bought a while ago with the intention of asking my Nan to make me a skirt from them (which, evidently, we haven't got round to doing). |
And I think that about TIES things up for this week. Ta-ta for now and thank you for reading, I hope you're all Gucci <3
Arrivederci! Bon voyage mon petit fromages!!!!!!
Love from,
Cerys
