Heyyyy fairies!
I've had a pretty fun, fresh, and funkadelic week this week, and I hope your week had at least one of those 'f' elements in it.
On Wednesday I went to Winchester School of Arts for my first fashion journalism internship gig, daaarling! It was a very early start because I had to get to Winch from Southampton by 9:15, so I didn't have time to photograph my outfit but that's FINE because there are way more interesting things to talk about than wot I wore.

A pic from the Sustainability Forum. I'm in the striped blue jumper seemingly checking my nails? |
The first event of the fashion month proceedings was a Sustainability Forum which is obvs right up my Reweary Fairy alley. There was a whole range of interesting speakers, and my favourite was Samson Soboye, 'the British Nigerian creative behind 'Soboye', a brand synonymous with African luxury that celebrates vibrant print and colour' (in the words of the forum's programme). He works with local artisans and small-scale production units in developing counties, and every 'Soboye' garment is a testament to his love for sustainability and African artistry. |
A pic from Samson's Instagram of him with models wearing the designs of WSA fashion and textile students whom he collaborated with on a collection. |
Samson's clothes are so zingy, and his commitment to wasting nothing was v v v v inspiring- he uses leftover fabric to upholster worn-out furniture he finds outside on the street, and he even made clothes for African barbie dolls out of the scraps of fabric too small to make into much else! He was very charismatic and impeccably turned-out too. What a man.
 |
Another pic from Samson's 'gram which he captioned 'Ever the Afro Dandy - all dressed up with nowhere to go...' |
While on the topic of African artistry, my friend Mischa bought me and my boyfriend handmade keyrings in South Africa when she was on holibobz visiting her family. They're beautiful! Thanks Mishca <3 Mine's the heart one. Those little colourful beads look like sweeties!

Scrumptious! |
On Thursday I had an interview for an internship with the Digital Humanities Hub at my university which I didn't get- oh well, I'm not very digitally adept anyways, so maybe I dodged a digital bullet!
I was pretty awkward in the interview (it was online!), but it went better than a fake interview I did in secondary school as careers skills practise in secondary school. I'd put down some fake special interests, one of which was 'culinary arts', for a laff' messing around in PSHE with my friends, and my interviewer asked me what the culinary arts entailed, so I said 'umm, making stuff like salmon mousse' and started uncontrollably nervous laughing.

my lickle interview outfit. |
The jumper is my boyfriend's charity shop Pierre Cardin one, and the trusty rusty satin shirt underneath is one my parents got me from Topshop for Christmas in 2018 or '19. I wore my second-hand Depop milkmaid skirt on le bottom hall, and when I went out on a de-stressifiying walk afterwards, I tied my charity shop silk scarf like a pussy bow around my neck, and wore the hand-me-down Burbz jacket for warmth. |
Step ya pussy bow up! |
I went pub quizzing later that eve and there were FAR TOO MANY sports questions, but hey- I'm a good sport, so it was still fun.
On Friday I had to go and run an errand in town which I won't bore you with. On my errand-running jaunt, I popped into British Heart Foundation and saw a little bag that made my heart skip a beat.
It's so cute I could hardly believe my eyes- a camouflage mirage! It's the perfect size for going out in the eve, big enough for a phone, small purse, and makeup, and small enough to not be annoying if you want to dance. It's v y2K, and has a teeny tiny mirror perfect for checking that there's nothing in your teeth. I have an adorable mini camouflage skirt that I got second-hand on Depop for £7 a while ago, but it's at my home in Essex, so I can't pair them together just yet. |

Me wearing the camouflage skirt in Liverpool last summer on holiday with the gyals. My cargo corset is a Dolce and Gabanna one which was, UNBELIEVABLY, £3 from a charity shop! I've seen the same one going on Depop for triple digits. |

On Saturday, my boyf and I celebrated our third anniversary- woooo! Happy Anniversary babe, you're hot, hilarious, and have a heart of gold <3
I went into town for another errand (relentless!) before him, and picked up a few more tings in Barnados. I bought a big bangle with multicoloured mirrored beads (just call me Disco Wrists); a funky purpley fringey Y2K scarf; a purple zip-up cycle jersey; and a black lace skater dress which has an American Apparel voibe. The grand total was £10!

a better pic of the scarf |
I put on the scarf and bangle straight away- I don't waste time when it comes to matters of a fabulous nature- then met my boyfriend in Pizza Express where I had a Fiorentina pizza (egg and spinach, innit) and a brownie. Afterwards we met some friends for a lil bev in a pub called The Painted Wagon, then I nipped home to unload my bulging bag and get changed before going out in the eve. This is what I wore: |
Sky Ferreira but dutty blonde |
I kept on the starry M&S tights I was already wearing, then changed into my new chazza shop dress and the secondhand eBay brogues (which, by the way, are GREAT for dancing in). I thought the skater style of the dress made it quite Indie Sleaze, so I went with it, tying a piece of blue velvet ribbon round my neck like a choker, and adding some black eyeshadow underneath my eyes. My hair was pretty 'grungy' (unwashed), so I just let it down and kept fluffing it up for bed-head chicness. |
I look like one of these Tumblr Teens... I wonder where they are now. |
I didn't use my new going-out bag because I needed to buy and carry some cheap plonk to pre-drinks, and plus, a tote is more Indie Sleaze anywaz. The hand-me-down Nike jacket kept me dry on the walk home, while my coatless boyfriend got soaked... I offered him my coat knowing he wouldn't take it <3Twas a really fun evening and I drank the perfect amount, meaning I was up this morning all bright-eyed, bushy, and raring to blog. Also- brainwave- why don't really busy bars have vending machines with tinnies??? All the bars we went to had twenty minute queue situations inside, as there were loads of people and they serve fiddly cocktails, so a vending machine would be ingenious. It could have carby snacks too for people who need to sober up!
Thank you for reading this week's blog <3 come back next week please!!!!
Love from
