Suave Girl Summer

 HELLO Fairies! <3

I've had a busy few weeks since the last blog- we're talking birthday bonanzas, platty joobs shenanigans, and a funky-fresh festival.... in other words, the works. I hope you dear readers have had a sprinkling of summer fun in the sun riding the heatwave wave.

I'm not gonna fill you up with an anecdote bread basket at the start of the blog because I don't want to spoil your appetites for le plat principal *big wet chef's kiss*: the outfits.

*****

I wore this outfit to go for lunch w my boyf, his parents, and their adorable pooch, Maple. It's what I imagine Laura Dern's Jurassic Park character would wear on a city trip because it's like snazzified utilitarian chic (I don't even know the character's name because I stopped watching the film as a child when I was distressed by the dino gobbling a goat- the early makings of a bleeding heart vegetarian).

Running ocular pat-down!

I got the olive suede jacket with an opulent iridescent lining for £12.99 in Age UK, and it's originally from M&S. The man in the shop insisted on giving me a bag for it because it's so suave, which is probably for the best as my tote is totes messy. I've worn it many a time since buying it as it's perfect for this time of year, although not for those British summer biblical rainy days. The blue silk shirt has featured on the blog before (also M&S), and the silk suede duet was a textural delight.

The tartan cargo skirt is actually my boyfriend's, and it's one that two of our friends bought for him from a charity shop for his birthday last year. It's got high-functioning pockets and a punky school girl panache a la t.A.T.u.

I recently bought the little brown '90s style sunnies from British Heart Foundation for £1.99. The arms are a tiny bit crooked, but perfect is BORING- why get veneers when you can have a charmingly idiosyncratic smile? Anyhoo, I love these shades and they're more low-key than my usual sunglasses- off-duty Reweary Fairy.

We had a lurvely lunch and postprandial peramble, and I came back with a clothes and vintage jewellery lootylicious loot from my boyf's mum- thank you Katie <3

I wore the same outfit a few days later for my boyf's 22nd bday #toyboy with slightly better makeup, slightly greasier hair, AND- ladies, thems, and gentlemen: Her!

This DARLING little mink fur mouse brooch with piercing red jewel eyes and an articulated tail from the loot! She's called Yasminka, and seeing as she's vintage I don't mind that it's made from real fur.

Anyhoo, we had a fab day wandering around and savouring the Winchester ambience, and my boyf was in his birthday suit (not that one) looking legendary- love you, babycakes.

His secondhand suit, new bday tie from moi (charity shop), and my £10 Dogs' Trust bimbocore Guess bag

I spent the Platty Joobs weekend in Bristol visiting one of my nearest and dearest, Sarah, to party rock at Love Saves The Day. 'Twas the first festival I've been to since the Panny D, and I mainly went because Sarah was going, as is usually the case when it comes to dance music events- I'm a party sheep, and my friends are my shepherds.

My party shepherds for the weekend, Chris and Sarah. Sarah found those sikasfuk visor shades in the nightclub she works in.

I didn't really take proper outfit pics, and packed pretty light. The Thursday was deliciously sunny, so much so that in the day time we had to seek shade every so often while grooving. On the Friday, however, the heavens OPENED and everyone got drenched by torrential rain.

Some rather dutty innovators took to tipping the rubbish out of bins and using them as makeshift shelters because there was literally nowhere except the pongy portaloos to take shelter from the rain.

This was my outfit pre-monsoon:

I borrowed Sarah's magnificent M&Ms racing jacket (Depop) which was not even slightly waterproof, and wore it with my overly optimistic sunnies (old ASOS), the blue silk blouse (again), my boyfriend's secondhand denim lakers' shorts which I claimed as my own, and my New Rocks which filled with puddles.
nice aerial shot, bro!
And the sodden outfit mid monsoon:
Me and soggy Saz! #destigmatizewhiteclaws

The rain went on for HOURS and flooded the main stage so there was a mass exodus which included us- we decided to leave early, go back to Sarah's to get warm and dry, have a wholesome meal, then go clubbing.
Every night. No sleep! Bus, club, another club, 'nother club, plane, next place, no sleep...

As my cool clothes were wet, I ended up with a pretty conservative club outfit that was giving autumn-loving church girl- cute nonetheless!
The blue denim skirt is secondhand eBay (been on the blog many times), and the vintage chevron print cardi is Sarah's from Best Days' Vintage in Colchester. Sarah gave me the cardi to keep because she's a G <3. I also borrowed Chris' Doc Martens because my shoes were too wet to wear, and was shocked at how light my feet felt dancing sans clodhoppers! Footloose indeed.

On the Saturday we had a lie-in and a late brekkie, followed by a trip to a quaint pub, a McDonalds, another quaint pub, and, you guessed it, another club! When in Brizzy... <33 We went to OMG, a gay club with great music, a high drama smoke machine, and an arcade claw machine full of adult toys (gargantuan dildos, grow your own girlfriend kits, and so on and so forth). Even though it was the third night of partying, we danced good and hard and PROPER, busting only the smoothest moves with some lovely randos.

Thank you so much Sarah and Chris for having moi, truly the hosts with the most doing the most!

From Platty Joobs Partying to Pretty Manger Picnicking: I wore this outfit to meet my boyf on his lunch break for a lazy picnic (a.k.a eating Pret A Manger al fresco on a grassy hill). My baguette du jour had an aubergine banh mi filling- gotta love that Asian-French fusion.

check out the mirror propped up on the bin- ramshackle glamour!

I bought the vintage dark floral tea dress from Depop for £12 after seeking an Elaine Benes style number. I've been watching a lot of Seinfeld recently and sighing over the effervescent Elaine's looks, especially dresses like these:

Stupendous dress- love the patchwork style collar- AND she's a fellow Diet Cokehead <3

lickle house on the prairie dress with what looks like the same earrings- a fellow Reweary Fairy!

This William Morris wallpaper print, shin-tickling dress is a tribute to the unsung '90s sitcom style icon- kudos, Elaine, kudos.
I wore my handmedown Burberry jacket when I first left the house, but the lurvely sun soon made it redundant. Due to a festival blister that just wouldn't quit, I had to wear my baby blue Crocs in clog mode (strap off), but I wore them with conviction.

Clara Bow

I accessorised it with a pearly leaf necklace from the aforementioned loot, a freshly washed fragrant braid finished with a blood red ribbon, and lightly crimson-stained lips for that just eaten wild summer berries look.

The final 'fit of this here blog is what I wore to meet my friends Nikita and Laden in a beer Garden of Eden with my boyf.

On my way there a girl leaning against a wall complimented my outfit which left me beaming. A lady in Sainsburys complimented my earrings earlier that day too, and also told me that a drop of bleach in the vase water would make the bunch of Sweet Williams I was buying stay sweeter for longer.
No wilting willies here!
Anyhoo, I digress... the outfit.
The safari soiree ready giraffe-print dress is originally from Mango, but I bought it years ago in the £1 charity shop in Colchester, and the leather waistcoat has been blogged many a time (Nan hand-me-down). The spangled, easily tangled layer necklace is from the loot (Katie really sorted me out), the sunnies are the same ones from earlier, and the blogged-before koi fish earrings are from a shop in Brighton. A cheap and chic-ful outfit indeed.
In the words of philosopher Charli XCX- 'Lip gloss on and I'm looking like a star'.

The beer garden was an Aperol Spritz scented sun trap- divine! We soaked up those Sunday rays like sunflowers, albeit sunflowers smothered with SPF moisturiser- gotta preserve the visage!
